Street Art Together
Street Art Together
Introduction video by Street Art Sans Frontières for IOM
Street Art Together is a participatory activity designed to strengthen community engagement and social cohesion through creative workshops in public spaces. Initiated in 2019 from a collaboration with Street Art Sans Frontières the passion quickly spread to Ghana, Guinea Bissau, Guinea Conakry, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal, Sierra Leone …
You too can join the street art movement! Learn the ropes on Yenna. But first: some basic principles.
Accessibility
A Street Art Together workshop must be accessible in several ways:
Participation
Unlike traditional Street Art where the focus is on the individual, Street Art Together is always participative, collective, and collaborative. A facilitator must therefore adopt the role of coach.
Participants should be active players and not passive observers.
Here are a couple of tricks to help you become a coach:
Cohesion
As a facilitator, your job is to create interaction: between participants and artists, teenagers and adults, returning migrants, and members of the host community …
Work your communicative skills to make sure the workshop’s key values don’t get lost in the moment.
